Total War: WARHAMMER hands you command of the Old World, where the only real constant is war between five wholly different races, each with their own characters, units, and playstyle: the chivalrous knights of Bretonnia, the valiant men of the Empire, the vengeful Dwarfs, the murderous Vampire Counts, and the brutal Orcs and Goblins of the Greenskin tribes. As the first Total War game set in a full fantasy world, it combines an addictive turn-based campaign of empire-building with explosive, colossal real-time battles across the vivid setting of Warhammer Fantasy Battles.
Leading your forces to war means choosing from 12 Legendary Lords pulled directly from Warhammer lore, arming them with fabled weapons, armor, and deadly battle magic uncovered through individual quest chains. For the first time in the series, magic itself becomes a battlefield weapon: summon storms of magical power to melt enemy armor, sap fighting spirit, or bolster your own troops, while wizards, shamans, and necromancers bend unpredictable arcane energies to your command. Flying creatures enter the fray too, from Dwarfen Gyrocopters harassing enemy lines to terrifying Wyverns plunging straight into the front, opening up entirely new tactical options in both open battles and sieges.
The Old World Campaign gives you a gigantic sandbox map crafted from twisted magical landscapes and populated with awesome and deadly creatures, offering the freedom to conquer however you actually see fit. Towering monsters wade directly into the melee too, dragons, giants, and monstrous cavalry among them, capable of bringing death to hundreds of lesser troops in a single charge.
The story underneath all of it is one of endless conquest: Karl Franz marshals the fractured men of the Empire under a single banner, Grimgor Ironhide leads Orcs and Goblins hungry for the brutality of combat, High King Thorgrim orders the stoic Dwarfs out from their mountain strongholds seeking vengeance for ancient wrongs, and Mannfred von Carstein commands the Vampire Counts' armies raised from the rotting ranks of the dead, his true motives shrouded in murderous secrecy. As the Old World tears itself apart through betrayal and open war, a far greater threat whispers in from the north, and the very fabric of reality itself begins to rend and buckle around the edges of the conflict.
