Emperor Edition is the definitive version of Total War: ROME II, bringing an improved politics system, overhauled building chains, rebalanced battles, and improved visuals across both campaign and battle. Every free feature update released since the game's 2013 launch comes bundled in, alongside the free Imperator Augustus Campaign Pack, automatically added to any existing owner's copy.
Set in 42 BC during the chaotic aftermath of Caesar's murder, the Imperator Augustus campaign follows the Second Triumvirate, Octavian, Caesar's adoptive son and heir, Marc Antony, his loyal lieutenant, and Lepidus, Pontifex Maximus of Rome, as each vies to become the empire's first sole ruler. Playable factions span Marc Antony, Lepidus, Octavian, Pompey, the Iceni, Marcomanni, Dacia, Egypt, Parthia, and Armenia, the last of which is now also available in the original ROME II Grand Campaign.
Massive sandbox turn-based campaigns support both cooperative and competitive two-player modes, weaving conspiracies, politics, intrigue, and betrayal directly into a player's own unfolding story. Real-time battles let players command tens of thousands of troops across epic land and sea clashes, choosing to play as one of three great Roman families or any of the many rival civilizations, each offering distinct units and tactics, from siege engines and heavy cavalry to steel-plated legionaries and barbarian berserkers.
