The spriggan known as Van Arkride, an underground professional operating out of Arkride Solutions Office, accepts nearly any job that pays and doesn't cross too far over the gray line, acting as detective, negotiator, or bounty hunter for clients who can't take their problems to more legitimate sources. The year is 1208, and after the war, Calvard is enjoying unprecedented economic prosperity, though public uncertainty grows alongside a rising number of immigrants and sweeping political reform.
A prim, proper young lady in the uniform of an esteemed academy knocks on Van's dilapidated office door one morning, setting off a request that proves considerably more than he bargained for, one that threatens to plunge the entire nation into chaos. The Action Time battle system has been completely revamped, transitioning seamlessly between field battles and command-based turn combat, powered by the sixth-generation tactical orbment Xipha for a fresh combat experience unique to this chapter of the Trails series.
The Topic System lets players use conversation topics gathered by interacting with characters throughout the city as bargaining chips during battle, adding a distinctly social layer to encounters most tactical RPGs skip entirely. An Alignment system rounds out the new mechanics, letting players shape three unique character attributes that influence status, which forces they fight alongside or against, and how the wider story ultimately unfolds, opening the second half of the long-running Trails saga with mechanical and narrative innovation.
