System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster rebuilds the 1999 sci-fi horror classic through Nightdive Studios' proprietary KEX Engine, keeping the genre-defining mechanics intact while modernizing the experience around them. You wake from cryo sleep in the year 2114 aboard the FTL ship Von Braun, unable to remember who you are or where you actually are, and it becomes clear almost immediately that something has gone terribly wrong.
Hybrid mutants and deadly robots now roam the ship's halls, the cries of the remaining crew echo through its cold corridors, and SHODAN, a rogue AI bent on humanity's destruction, has taken full control. Stopping her means fighting deck by deck through the derelict Von Braun, piecing together the horrifying fate of the ship and its crew through the same story-rich atmosphere that made the original a landmark for the genre.
Before setting out, you can choose from three branches of the military, O.S.A., Marines, or Navy, each supporting a different playstyle and approach to the ship's dangers. This remaster adds Cross-Play Co-Op multiplayer and expanded mod support on top of the original game, along with enhanced character and weapon models, updated animations, support for up to 144FPS with ultra-widescreen resolutions, optimized controller support, and 50 achievements to chase across a fully modernized version of one of the most influential FPS/RPG hybrids ever made.
