The human race attacking the Demon King's castle is nothing new, having happened countless times before, but this particular assault is different. The Adventurers join forces with the Imperial Army and the legendary Hero of Caerleon to launch a full onslaught with overwhelming numbers, succeeding in total destruction of the Demon stronghold and taking every demon inside prisoner, except for one lone skeleton named Skul.
Guiding Skul on his quest to single-handedly take on the Imperial Army and rescue his captured King defines this action-platformer's rogue-lite core, with ever-changing, challenging maps ensuring players never quite know what to expect from one run to the next. Skul is no ordinary skeleton either: beyond his own formidable fighting skills, he gains entirely new abilities depending on which skull he's currently wearing, equipping up to two at a time, each carrying its own distinct attack range, speed, and power.
Switching skull combos mid-battle to match different enemies and situations rewards improvisation, and crossing paths with a party of powerful Adventurers who hunt demons for sport flips the usual predator-prey dynamic on its head, since Skul, small as he is, still packs quite a punch. Massive bosses corrupted by Dark Quartz wait at the end of every chapter, twisted by pain and hate into something far beyond ordinary demons, taking control of everything the corrupting substance touches.
