Stepping into the role of a War Mage, Orcs Must Die! Deathtrap has you defending a rift from an endless grotesque mob, combining chaotic third-person combat with the series' signature devious trap-laying strategy. Four-player co-op, deeper progression systems, rogue-lite build options, and expanded outdoor fantasy environments round out a formula built for both solo runs and full squads.
Each hero among the new roster of War Mages carries unique weapons, abilities, traps, and personality, tailored to different play styles that work equally well solo or paired with complementary heroes for more coordinated orc-smashing. As waves intensify, randomized buffs and debuffs affect your hero, traps, weapons, and even the levels themselves, with environmental factors like weather and time of day further shifting how enemies behave and how you're able to defend against them.
Choosing whether to push forward against a growing horde or retreat to the castle hub to power up your hero, weapons, and traps before facing down a brutal Orc General boss fight becomes a real risk-reward decision every run. Physics-driven combat sends orcs flying, crushing, slicing, and burning in increasingly ridiculous ways, and the series' trademark humor, from witty orc chatter to a guitar-and-drum-heavy soundtrack, stays front and center throughout.
