Master of Command is a real-time tactical strategy game set during the Seven Years' War, putting players in command of an army where every encounter, every piece of equipment, and every soldier lost matters. Managing supplies, engaging enemy forces, and shaping a campaign through difficult choices and decisive battles means resources and replacements stay scarce throughout, and keeping your best men alive can matter more in the long run than winning any single fight.
Battles are designed to feel grounded and brutal rather than purely numbers-driven: troops break when outflanked, falter when exhausted, and rally when properly supported, with morale, stamina, and formation mattering as much as raw headcount. A well-timed charge or a disciplined tactical retreat can change the outcome of a fight, and victory tends to favor the commander managing troops with real discipline rather than simply the side fielding the larger force. Regiments aren't treated as expendable numbers either; equipping line infantry with rifles for long-range precision, faster-reloading ramrods, or field musicians to steady morale under fire shapes how each unit actually performs, and customizing flags and uniforms lets every army develop a distinct identity by the time a campaign wraps up.
Campaigns unfold across procedurally generated regions obscured by fog of war, navigated in real time as you march toward locating and destroying the enemy's main encampment, with villages, ambushes, wounded survivors, and roaming enemy forces scattered unpredictably between you and that goal. With more than 150 hand-crafted historical units drawn from five major European powers, including Prussian Grenadier Guards, Russian Don Cossacks, and British Highland Grenadiers, building an army that feels distinct and historically grounded becomes as much a part of the game as the battles themselves, and passing through towns to recruit troops, trade for supplies, or offload captured equipment ties resource management directly into how far a campaign can actually stretch.
