Set during the aftermath of an apocalyptic pandemic, Left 4 Dead 2 sends four new survivors through the cities, swamps, and cemeteries of the Deep South, fighting from Savannah to New Orleans across five expansive campaigns. Armed with a wide array of classic and upgraded weapons, players can also take out infected with carnage-creating melee weapons, from chainsaws and axes to the deadly frying pan.
Three horrific new Special Infected join the fight alongside five new uncommon common infected, including the terrifying Mudmen, each campaign introducing zombies exclusive to that particular stretch of the outbreak. AI Director 2.0 takes the original's dynamic difficulty system further still, procedurally shifting weather, pathways, enemy population, effects, and lighting to match a group's performance, ensuring no two playthroughs of the same campaign feel identical.
Co-operative, Versus, and Survival modes all support the full five-campaign lineup, with an all-new multiplayer mode adding fresh ways to experience the fight. Stats, rankings, and an awards system reward collaborative play directly, pushing groups of survivors to work together through the Deep South's infected wilderness rather than simply running for the nearest safe house alone.
