Lute, a young boy traveling toward Orbis, the first kingdom ever built by humankind, finds himself swept up into the chaotic life of a mercenary alongside Johnny and the Elf Castella in DragonSword: Awakening. As a massive shadow looms over the peaceful continent and Lute's own destiny begins to spiral, the question becomes whether this ordinary boy can actually become the Dragon Sword, the hero destined to save Orbis from a threat unseen for 60 years.
Built in Unreal Engine 5, the Continent of Orbis unfolds as a living, breathing anime-style open world, spanning beautiful meadows, secret cellars beneath watchtowers, treasure-filled deep seas, and hidden caves and dungeons, all fully explorable on foot alongside trusty allies and adorable collectible Familiars. Combining ingredients found across the continent into new dishes through cooking and solving the problems of local residents lets players become a part of Orbis's daily life, not just its looming crisis.
Combat leans on the game's signature tag-team system, where each of 19 Heroes possesses distinct Status Ailment abilities that can be stacked through Active Skills before being chained into devastating combos via powerful Signal Skills. Endless Signal Switching lets Heroes weave in and out of battle in constant combo chains, and with a Dragon having brought the continent to the brink of destruction once before, tracing the footsteps of the six legendary Heroes who saved it 60 years ago becomes essential to understanding what Lute's own band of mercenaries might still become.
