Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition puts you in control of one of five playable characters in what's positioned as the definitive version of the original stylish action game. Nero, a young knight of the Order of the Sword, a group that reveres the demon Sparda as a protector while dedicating itself to exterminating all other demons, sets out to find Dante, the assassin accused of murdering the Order's leader, while demons start appearing across the castle town of Fortuna in growing numbers.
Nero fights using his signature Devil Bringer arm for powerful new attacks and combos, and this Special Edition adds three additional playable characters on top of him: Vergil, technical enough to reward mastery while staying approachable for newcomers; Lady, playable for the first time, specializing in long-range firepower with her Kalina Ann rocket launcher and grappling wire; and Trish, who wields the demonic sword Sparda in combos that can autonomously track and strike enemies while she fights alongside it. Legendary Dark Knight Mode throws overwhelming numbers of enemies at you simultaneously for players chasing extra difficulty, and refined gameplay tempo adjustments smooth out the pacing for both longtime players and newcomers picking up the signature blend of guns, swordplay, and stylish combo chaining.
