Red is a graffiti writer who lost his head and now gets around using a cyberhead instead, and in search of his own roots, he joins the Bomb Rush Crew alongside Tryce and Bel in Bomb Rush Cyberfunk. Together, the crew sets out to go All City, aiming to become the best graffiti crew in the sprawling metropolis of New Amsterdam, while the deeper mystery of who actually cut off Red's head, and how deeply his human side still connects to the graffiti world, slowly surfaces the more territory they claim.
Set in a future built by Team Reptile around the mind of Dion Koster, the game runs on self-styled graffiti crews equipped with personal boostpacks, battling for control of the streets through dance, painting, tricks, and direct confrontation with an increasingly militarized police force that escalates the more you vandalize. Exploring all five main boroughs of the city means hitting graffiti spots to build up REP, the currency needed to challenge rival crews to full Crew Battles for control of their turf.
Movement blends skateboarding, inline skating, and BMX-style tricks into a unique environment-based trick system, where extending combos with manuals and layering in special Boost Tricks not only racks up higher scores but also generates the boost power needed to move faster, making style and speed directly rewarding rather than separate goals. Recruiting new crew members scattered around the city, tracking down new graffiti pieces and outfit colors, and discovering music to play on your flip phone round out a world built entirely around claiming the city one wall, one trick, and one crew battle at a time.
